It's Fall in Aggieland y'all!

It’s Fall y’all! Fall officially starts on September 22nd each year ~ but the Fall activities come rushing into Aggieland during the last month of Summer. Around here the end of summer is a very anticipated time of year ~ eagerly for some and with a little bit of fear for others. There’s no stopping this busy and exciting time of year in Aggieland!
New residents have arrived by the thousands! The University really starts to bustle, with students filtering in for new student conferences, Fish Camp, move in, and then the start of school on August 28th this year. Many are also students at the Bryan Campus of Blinn College. The population of Aggieland increases in size very quickly. Most locals have learned to adjust their schedules in order to get shopping trips completed and to get to their destinations (jobs, schools, etc.) on time. The influx of new people contributes greatly to our economy as well ~ the students eat at our restaurants and shop at our stores ~ it’s very good for our community and the businesses who operate here.


The start of the Fall college football season brings a lot of visitors to our community as well. Fans descend upon Aggieland in anticipation of Football games and other athletic events, college reunions, special events associated with Texas A&M and all of the students keep Bryan~College Station very busy. Hotels will be full, roads will be packed, restaurants will be busy and often have a wait ~ this brings a big boost to our economy as well. The Texas A&M campus will be packed with fans and tailgaters starting in early September.


The local around here also get busier. Our local students have either already returned to school or will also begin on August 28th. These students all have their own schedules with academics, athletics and other extra-curricular activities. We have Friday Night Lights here in Aggieland ~ just like most other Texas cities and towns. Bryan~College Station is an otherwise “normal” community embedded in a busy college town.

  We don't usually get "real" Winters in this area. If we dip below freezing over night it's usually just one night here & there during the Winter months. We rarely see snow and can go years without the worry of ice on the roads. This year is NOT that year. We've already seen a FULL day of snow that stuck, you could still see snowmen up to four days later. But that week was no where near as cold as the coming week is looking to get! Creating your Home Office In recent months many (if not most) of us have found ourselves working much more from home. The fact is that none of us really knows if we might need to be able to work from home again in the future (ie. the Fall), but there are a host of reasons why anyone could need to work from home. There are definitely some pros and cons to working from home. There are also things that we can do to make the most of the pros & minimize the cons to make for an effective work day at home. Of course, having the office to actually GO to is nice. I don't even use a dedicated "office" at my office. I use the open spaces and love interacting with my coworkers. But just being there gives me more energy and more focus. Some will say that working from home is better for them; they struggle with distractions at the office and may be more creative at home.
